Recently, the blockchain data analysis platform Arkham Intelligence disclosed a shocking major event in the Crypto Assets world. The Chinese Bitcoin Mining Pool LuBian, which rapidly rose in 2020, actually suffered an unprecedented Hacker attack in December of the same year.

According to a report by Arkham Intelligence, the attack resulted in the theft of up to 127,426 Bitcoins, a number that has shocked the entire Crypto Assets community. Based on the Bitcoin price at the time, the theft caused a loss of approximately $3.5 billion. With the rise in Bitcoin prices, the value of the stolen funds is now close to $14.5 billion.

This incident is likely to become the largest Hacker attack in the history of Crypto Assets. In comparison, the Mt. Gox exchange theft, which once attracted global attention, lost 744,000 Bits, but due to the relatively low price of Bitcoin at the time, the overall loss amounted to only several hundred million dollars.

The LuBian Mining Pool has facilities in both China and Iran, but quickly disappeared from public view after being attacked. The exposure of this incident has sparked deep reflections on the security of Crypto Assets, while also highlighting the importance of Blockchain technology in asset tracking.

As the Crypto Assets industry continues to evolve, similar security incidents may have far-reaching effects on the entire ecosystem. This not only underscores the importance for Mining Pools and exchanges to strengthen security measures but also warns investors to be more cautious when selecting a platform.

Despite the significant losses caused by this incident, it also provided valuable lessons for the industry. In the future, the crypto assets industry may see more innovations and improvements aimed at security to prevent similar incidents from happening again.
